I liked his speech in Cairo. He's right... the majority of people in the world have the same ideals and goals.

im not one of those OMG look hes so great people when it comes to obama. i mean yeah he was the better canidate, but everybody's expecting a great bunch out of him, theres only so much the president can do.

Yeah that may be true, but people are starting to get impatient. It seems like he's stalling everywhere. The bailouts continue, don't ask don't tell is still in place, another surge for the wars. The only things he did change is to put some pressure on the banks to allow refinancing of peoples homes, and the presidents stance against torture.

Honestly, I hope he's just stalling so that he can better assess the situation, and doesn't plan to keep doing this indefinitely. Hopefully.

i dont think there is a helluva lot he can do i mean think about it. middle east is mad at the u.s., we have wars in iraq and afganistan. our economy is failing because we outsource all of our products to other countries. the auto and banking industries are screwed over. we are kinda on an island drifting in the middle of nowhere and mr.obama is trying to get us off with a single lifepreserver. its a valient effort but its hard to make progress

i think that obama is not getting enough support. i wasnt really like he needs to win i mostly agreed w/ john mcane really even though i cant spell his name. he is stressed out trying to gather the parts of our country that we have shattered and trying to put us back together. he is confused about everything and everyday people ask him why and when and where he plans to make change and he feels that he needs a break. well he does have a break, a tough break, he is still going to have to make those decisions sometime, but he is just stalling. hope is the only option here. my curiosity doesnt like hope, but i can allow that here, if i try!

I guess thats what makes dealing with this so hard; dealing with it all at once.

Everything is interconnected. The U.N. refused to sanction a preemptive military strike against Iraq and Afghanistan. Therefore, U.S. troops stromed those countries on its own, costing huge amounts of money in the process. That and the "inhanced interregation techniques" caused us to be ousted from real help from the rest of the world.

Now, Obama has the very arduous task of trying somehow to figure out how to:

A) Pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan without leaving a power vacuum for Al-Qaeda and Hamas to fight over and tear both countries to pieces.

B) Get our reputation with the rest of the world back on track (at least somewhat).

C) Solve (or at least help solve) the world ecnomic crisis.

Really, the only way to do this is to get lots of help. With the Republicans and occasionally some Democrats repeatedly going against him, no wonder he has to find support outside his own country.

Honestly, we have no way of knowing how this will turn out in the long run, but for better or worse, this is the man who now represents America.

and now he has problems streaming from the previous administration, cheny and the rest of his followers apparently commited torture (whether you think it was or not depends on who you are) and now obama is getting the whiplash from that

Scary stuff's going on in the world. If you think about it, humans are the only species that intentionally destroy each other. We might be the reason for our own demise. Obama has so much to deal with. Like noninparticular said, the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, restoring our reputation, and at least somewhat fixing the world economic crisis. But there's also issues with the climate and food production.

if you think about it our economic situation stems from the reagan administratiion and hid "reaganomics"

Obama has spent more money on his "stimulus plan" so far than all the previous presidents combined. Huzzah Comrade Obama!

Do you have any ideas? We can't let the banks go under (Great Depression told us why), can't let the auto industry tank (Throw job loss into overdrive). What do you think we should do? There is no magic bullet (tax cuts don't count) that will solve everything at once and not cost a lot of money, so any suggestions?

June 18, 2009 | Unregistered Commenternooneinparticular

its going to be a while we have to accept that. there is no magic fix to this problem

June 19, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterzman381

You know what would? Ever played "Deus Ex", an epidemic virus that kills people, created by the gov. Would that help us at all?

June 22, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterCatfishmonster

So your idea is to around killing people???

June 23, 2009 | Unregistered Commenternooeinparticualr

thats the most ignorent thing ive heard all day

June 23, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterzman381

Obama needs to be given some more time to make progress before people call him out. A man can't be judged by his actions until his actions have had results.

Cheney and others are trying to cause a ruckus in order to swing people back to the Republican side. It's clear that the Right is hurting and needs support. The next election is on everyone's mind even though the last one is only about eight months behind us.

I agree with Obama being stuck between two walls

June 23, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterhi

Stuff is an OK idea to mention but I do disagree about it. We don't just buy things because of ads we sometimes buy things because we need it like running out of something.
